Boasting production and mix duties from Jamie Catto of Faithless, the disco backed 'Afro Lover' appears to reference common human desires; "everybody wants to be happy, everybody wants more money". The track features on the 1999 releases 'Millionaires'. This 180th artwork of the project, starring an anonymous model is a classy piece of bravado that builds on the album’s previous tracks with loud. However, in the music reviews, the song divides. Some have written : "Afro Lover seems designed to go for Top 40 gold" or "It is one anthemic chorus of happiness and joy, and really does have the potential to become as big and as famous as Sit Down", and some others "Afro Lover is bordering on the ridiculous with it's little disco backing" or "Afro Lover, the album’s weakest track, feels slight and silly.." Everybody wants to be happy. Tim Booth : "I have virtually no memory of making this! I think there's a lot of Brian in this song, especially rhythmically".
